 Oscar Romeo Award

 https://www.romeroaward.co.uk/

We are delighted and incredibly proud to share that St William of Perth Catholic Primary School received the Saint Oscar Romero Award – Participator Level in December 2025. This national award recognises how schools actively live out the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, celebrating our commitment to dignity, solidarity, care for creation, and standing alongside the most vulnerable in our world.

Having achieved the Participator Level, we will now begin our journey toward the Developer Level, which invites us to deepen our mission even further by ensuring Catholic Social Teaching becomes a golden thread running through our curriculum, community life, strategic planning, and everyday choices.

This achievement reflects the dedication, compassion, and faith-filled action of our pupils, staff, families, and parish community. Inspired by the life and witness of St Oscar Romero, we look forward to continuing our work in building a school rooted in justice, love, and hope for all.

Cafod Living Simply Award

At SWOP we are working towards the LiveSimply Award, a wonderful opportunity for Catholic communities, schools, and parishes to respond to the call to care for our common home and stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world. The Bishops of England and Wales have encouraged all parishes and schools to pursue this award as a way of “protecting this world which God has entrusted to us.”

As a school, we are committing ourselves to thoughtful action—creating wildlife meadows, taking part in the Big Lent Walk, and looking out for those in our community who may be the poorest or most isolated and need our support. Inspired by the late Pope Francis and his vision for stewardship, we aim to take practical and prayerful steps that reflect our Catholic mission.

Together with St John Fisher Church, we are striving to live simply, live sustainably, and live in solidarity with one another as we work towards becoming true guardians of God’s creation.
